PCPFIDO1.FON
PCPFIDO2.FON
Released to Public Domain by Frank L. Sherwood, August 1986.
See Beg Notice at end of this document.
These two files are Qmodem 2.0 phone files of all Fido BBS systems which
are accessible via PC Pursuit. The file PCPFIDO1.FON contains all cities
except Dallas and Houston. PCPFIDO2.FON contains Dallas and Houston. In
order to use these with Qmodem, it will be necessary to rename them to
QMODEM.FON. Then simply copy them onto your working Qmodem disk (or
subdirectory) when you need them. BE SURE TO KEEP A COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL
QMODEM.FON FILE!
Each entry begins with the area code of the PC Pursuit city through which
the BBS is available. You must be connected to that city before attempting
to dial the number.
If you haven't already figured it out, this tip will make life MUCH easier
on PC Pursuit: Once you are connected to a city on PC Pursuit you can then
use Qmodem to dial numbers for you, just as if you were dialing your own
modem. Qmodem will send the dial commands to PC Pursuit and interpret the
"connect" or "busy" responses appropriately. So long as you are set for a
long enough delay between redials (5-10 sec works fine for me), you can
even enter a list of numbers to dial in sequence. Just remember to set the
parameters back to 7E1 when you are not dialing. Otherwise you won't be
able to read PC Pursuit's responses.
BEG NOTICE:
These files are released into the public domain with no restrictions
whatever. However, they DO represent the fruits of HOURS and HOURS of
labor filtering the Fido nodelist with a database program, writing a
translation program to convert the text files to QMODEM.FON files, etc.
If you think they are of significant use to you and you feel kind hearted
enough, please send me whatever donation you think this information is
worth - $5.00 would make my day! Even a dollar would let me know someone
cares.
